Having a bit of fun... decided to do something cartoony. The two alter egos of Cyberdave. Hmm AM and PM do not represent night and day jobs. LOL.

Second sitting for sketch. I deliberately picked something complicated to push myself. Trying to increase my drawing speed.
Originally located on the other side of Coal Harbour, at the foot of the bluff below Hastings Street below the foot of Howe and near the Vancouver Club, the original building was floated across to the present location and rebuilt as a stationary building on pilings. The style is mock Tudor. The building was built in 1911.

Trying to follow through on my self promise to sketch something each day. I felt whimsical, so as I was sitting here I decided to sketch my cat Fluffy in a more cartoon-like fashion. My cartoons do not usually work out, but these were not bad IMHO considering they were really quick sketches.

Sketchcrawl 32 Day - Late Entry
After Carol and Thalia had finished sketching for the day, I continued solo for an hour or so while waiting for my Taxi. After checking out the Chinatown Zodiac Mosaics in front of Dr Sun Yat-Sen Gardens and finding no shade, I toodled back to Taylor and West Pender for a shady spot. Here I did some quick and rough sketches in pencil of people passing by. Last night and later this morning, I finished the sketches and inked them in. The initial pencil was pretty rough as I was tired and these folk were too fast for me.

Sketchcrawl 32 Day!
As today was the big Sketchcrawl 32 day, I am posting the sketches completed by me for the event. I had a good start at 7:15am Pacific Time as I was eager to get going. I knew the first subject that I wanted to sketch was going to be complicated, so I tried for an early start.
I was well into sketching the Millenium Gate entrance to Chinatown by the time Carol (sketchalina) arrived at 9:00am. 9:00am was our agreed meeting time to Carol was right on time.
As we agreed to meet Thalia (crazythalia) at 12:00noon at the "Everything Cafe", Carol and I packed up from sketching the Millenium Gate and ambled down West Pender onto East Pender at 11:30am.
After a spot of lunch at the cafe, Thalia arrived and we sat outside the cafe sketching. I believe Carol was sketching the building across the street from the cafe. I am unsure what Thalia had as her subject for her sketching, I will have to wait until she posts on Sketchcrawl :-) My second contribution was to sketch a bicycle leaning against a Chinatown lamp post and two visitors sitting enjoying their coffee.

I was sitting looking out of my home office window and noticed all the back-lane people traffic. I was fascinated by the number of "homeless binners" that travelled up and down the lane. I wondered if they have some common route map because they all seem to follow the same route from bin to bin. It kind of reminded me of ants following a blazed trail. These folks do a spectacular job of recycling, especially bottles and cans that were not sorted by the residents. Some of the residents even sort the bottles and cans and leave them out for these folks. There is a local recycle centre up the road where these professional "binners" take their stuff in exchange for payment. These local entrepreneurs have a self imposed code of ethics.
