wow - nice large painting. I've been using small sketchbooks, the larger format looks far more technically demanding.

DeleteI would not say more technically demanding but more planning and composition. The goal on these bigger paintings is to have them look okay from a distance. eg. A living room wall. Too much detail spoils the painting. Big emphasis in this painting was on hard and soft edges especially on the coat/jacket that is supposed to represent a silky, shiny finish. The decision I made was to have 50% of the image focused on the face and 50% on the coat (the focus being on the eyes but the coat colour for impact/shock value). The proud father ad mother are already planning their room around this :-)
